Anime Screenings

Sit back and watch enough anime to melt your brains and give you just a taste of what's coming out soon and what's already out to buy in the shops! We'll be blending in a nice mix of old and new anime courtesy of Beez, MVM, and Manga entertainment. As always we encourage everyone to buy anything you really like and help support the industry!

AMV competition

Ever thought "that song works perfectly with that scene", or "THAT CLIP WITH THIS AUDIO WOULD BE HILARIOUS!!!?" Then you should have a fair idea what AMVs (Anime Music Video) are and so did last years amazing entrants. From the terribly silly to the brilliantly dramatic the AMVs of Nom-con 2011 will be a sight to behold...and giggle at.

Anime Murder Mystery

Six famous faces from the world of anime and video games are thrown for a loop when an acquaintance is murdered. This time we did bring in a detective, but he's useless so we need your help, Nom-Con attendees!

Artist Alley

Aspiring Artist? Whether you're just starting out or want to sell your own works that you created yourself for the lovely convention goers or simply if you just want to buy something unique and lovingly hand crafted then the alley is the place for you.

Games and Tournaments

Choose your destiny! Right here at Nom-Con not only do we have a feast of anime, manga, cosplay, stands and much more I can't list right now for your fancy, we have a wide selection of video games that you can walk right in and play whenever you feel like venting some convention excitement. For those who think they're 'ard enough, there are tournaments waiting for you to show off your skills.

Hentai Panel

Just like last year, if you know what this is, you know what to expect. If you don't know what this is, you probably won't be allowed in. I.D. checked at the door.

Karaoke

Can't sing in Japanese? No problem, mangling the words is half the fun! And if all else fails, we can just sing the Poke-rap over and over....

Maid Cafe

Our uber-posh Maid Cafe will be extending its hours to provide cake and tea to the anime-overloaded crowds.

Answer as many questions as you can before the alcohol makes you giddy and you answer every question with "Chuck Norris" or crude sketches.


MC Nom-Whoomp! There it is!

MC Nom and his voluminous parachute pants will be presenting this extravaganza of talent, which is open to anyone with something to show off. Sing, dance, act, mime, moonwalk badly, play the spoons, the stage is yours!

NB: You can register for this event online or at the rehearsals, but if you miss rehearsals you won't be permitted to perform. Any and all media you need for your performance must be edited and ready to go during rehearsals.

Cosplay Workshops

Want to gather tips on how to cosplay? We'll be covering all the essentials, from making props, to applying make-up, and posing in that perfect photo.

Nomopoly

The only thing this game shares with the original Monopoly is the name. A fast and furious giant board game, first person to reach the goal gets a box of Pocky. Landing on a coloured square can boost you forward or drag you back depending on your choices. Play if you dare!

Nom-Con's Next Top Cosplayer

Our catwalk showcase, featuring the best and brightest of costumes. The genres are futuristic, horror and high romance, so be sure to get the best seat in the house and have your camera ready!

NB: The order by which the cosplayers walk will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can apply online (details forthcoming, but for now you can get in contact with Missiechan to register) or in person during rehearsals. If you miss rehearsal, you won't be allowed on the catwalk. Judging for Eurocosplay will take place just after rehearsal.

Anime Room 101

As wonderful as anime is, there are still a few little issues that niggle at even the most hardcore otaku. In this very special panel, our guests tell us what little bugbear they want wiped off the face of the earth.

The Nom Prom

On Saturday night, everyone (including the staff) will be getting dressed up to attend our formal dance. Get yourself a date, go with a group or bravely go stag and try and catch that special someone's eye with your fancy duds. Vote for the Nom Prom Royal Couple and cheer for their spotlight dance! And we may have a surprise or two in store....
